Plan family dinners in ChatGPT with Ulivo

If you already use ChatGPT, you can use it as your family's dinner planner. Ulivo connects to ChatGPT as a connector: ChatGPT handles the conversation, and Ulivo stores your family's food rules, plans the week's dinners, checks every one against everyone's allergies and builds the shopping list.

Before you start

You need a Ulivo account. Sign-ups are currently through the waitlist. Ulivo opens soon: join the waitlist and we'll email you the day it does. Once you have an account, the steps below take a few minutes.

Connect Ulivo to ChatGPT

ChatGPT adds custom connectors through developer mode. OpenAI offers developer mode on some ChatGPT plans, and its menu names change from time to time, so the exact labels may differ slightly from these:

1. Turn on developer mode. In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings, go to the apps and connectors section, and turn on developer mode in its advanced settings.

2. Create a connector. Choose to create or add a connector, name it "Ulivo", and paste this URL as the server address:

   https://getulivo.com/mcp

   Choose OAuth as the authentication method.

3. Sign in to Ulivo. ChatGPT opens a getulivo.com page. Sign in with your Ulivo account and approve the connection. You can choose read-only access if you'd like ChatGPT to see your plan without changing anything.

4. Use it in a chat. Start a new chat, turn on the Ulivo connector for that chat, and ask for your week.

ChatGPT may show a warning that custom connectors haven't been reviewed by OpenAI. That's expected for connectors added in developer mode. Shorter steps for every assistant are on how to connect.

What to ask

Talk the way you'd talk to another parent. Some things to try:

Plan our dinners for next week.

Tuesday has to be quick, 20 minutes, dinner by 7.

Swap Friday for something with chicken.

Alex is away Wednesday.

We're eating out Sunday, and we already have rice and olive oil.

Make the shopping list, split between the supermarket and the butcher.

Looks good. Confirm the plan and give me an Instacart link.

Maya didn't like last night's dinner. Never make it again.

What Ulivo adds to ChatGPT

ChatGPT on its own can write a meal plan, but it doesn't keep your family's rules in a structured way, and it can't be certain a recipe is free of an allergen. With Ulivo connected:

• Your family's rules are stored in your Ulivo account, not in a chat. Every new conversation starts with the same profile.
• Allergies are strict rules, checked ingredient by ingredient. A dinner with an allergen is never planned on a night that person is eating, and a swap that breaks a rule is refused with the reason. See allergy-friendly meal planning.

• Portions, cooking times and the shopping list are calculated, not guessed, and the list follows the plan when it changes.
• The Instacart handoff is optional and US only. The link opens your list on Instacart's site; Ulivo never places an order. Ulivo may earn a commission on orders placed through it (see our affiliate disclosure).

• Nothing is bought in ChatGPT. Ulivo never sells, upgrades or takes payment in a chat. Billing is only on getulivo.com.
